EIES welcomes Sabrina Schulz as Germany Director

23 January 2025

Berlin, 23 January 2025 – The European Initiative for Energy Security (EIES) is pleased to announce the appointment of Sabrina Schulz as Germany Director. In this newly created role, Schulz will lead EIES’ operations in Germany, strategically advancing initiatives to promote a secure energy transition. Schulz joins EIES with extensive experience and expertise in the energy transition and security sphere. In her new capacity, Schulz will focus on establishing EIES’ presence in Germany.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sabrina Schulz to the team,” said Albéric Mongrenier, Executive Director of EIES. “Her exceptional energy and security expertise and proven leadership qualities will be invaluable as we work to strengthen European and German energy security and competitiveness. Together, we want to grow our footprint in Germany, a critical country to build a resilient and secure future for Europe. As the largest European economy and a leader of political action, Germany faces challenges to its strategic supply chains, high energy costs detrimental to its industrial base, and targeted mis- and disinformation around its economic and national security future.”

“A secure energy transition must be a priority for all,” said Sabrina Schulz. “I am delighted to join EIES and lead its efforts in Germany at such a critical juncture. This role presents an opportunity to join a growing and impactful organisation seeking pragmatic solutions at the intersection of energy, climate, trade, and security policy that create prosperity and a resilient energy supply.”

Before joining EIES, Schulz was an Associate Fellow with the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) as well as a Senior Policy Fellow with Dezernat Zukunft, a macrofinance think tank in Berlin. Previously, she served as head of the Berlin office at KfW, and as the Executive Director of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network Germany. She also worked in various positions, including as a co-CEO, for econnext AG. She is the founding director of the Berlin office of E3G Third Generation Environmentalism and served as a climate diplomat with the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office. She holds a PhD in International Politics and her doctoral research focused on transatlantic security relations.
